OCTOBER 2023 – BELGRADE, SERBIA

The 4th PROFEEDBACK Conference took place in Belgrade, Serbia, on 9-10 October 2023. Hosted by the Institute of Economic Sciences, the conference focused on “Environmental and Energy Economics: Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Green Transition, Circular Economy,” attracting academics, policymakers, and policy evaluators from across Europe and beyond.

This conference, part of the PROFEEDBACK COST-Action (PlatfoRm OF policy Evaluation community for improvED EU policies and Better ACKnowledgement), aimed to foster collaboration within the policy evaluation community, enhance the visibility of evaluation research, and strengthen its impact on evidence-based policymaking. Building on the success of previous PROFEEDBACK conferences, this event explored critical intersections between environment, energy, economics, sustainability, and social transition.

Discussions during the two-day event centered on key aspects of environmental and energy economics, including:

• Climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies,
• The challenges and opportunities of the green transition,
• The role of circular economy in sustainable development,
• The interconnection of business, finance, and sustainability, and
• Social and economic dimensions of energy policies.

The conference served as a vital platform for exchanging theoretical insights, practical tools, and innovative solutions to advance the evaluation of environmental and energy policies in a rapidly evolving global landscape. With participants from numerous countries, academic institutions, and research organizations, the event will continue to strengthen the network of professionals dedicated to improving policy evaluation practices.
