Since 2024, all COST Actions are encouraged to develop a Gender Equality Plan (GEP). At the recent COST Connect event in Brussels (May 13, 2025), our GEP was showcased as a model example of how projects can implement this initiative.

The event enabled open dialogue between COST Actions, fostering the exchange of good practices on gender mainstreaming, intersectionality, and inclusive policymaking. This initiative reflects COST’s commitment to advancing equality and diversity in European research collaborations.

Katalin Oborni, Gender Equality Advisor of Profeedback, presented our plan, which was developed last year and launched during the project’s final phase. She shared how Profeedback has taken concrete steps to:

  • Strengthen gender balance in leadership
  • Promote inclusive participation
  • Integrate gender perspectives in research

Notably, out of the Top 10 Gender Equality Tips published on the COST website, 3 were drawn directly from Profeedback’s practices—a strong validation of our commitment and innovative approach!

Results so far:

  • 49% female representation across the network
  • 61% among young researchers
  • 60% of ITC country participants are women
  • 52% of leadership roles are held by women (although none in Chair/Vice-Chair positions yet)

Participating in #COSTConnect gave us a platform to both share and learn—working toward a more equal and inclusive future in science and research.
